Whisky Magazine Awards 2021
While many of us are coming out of our winter shells and looking forward to brighter days ahead, it’s always nice to receive good news!
We at Lambay Whiskey HQ are very chirpy of late due to the good news that we are a double winner at the Icons of Whisky awards 2021 and also receiving our second gold medal at the World Spirits Awards WSA 2021 for our Lambay Malt Whiskey.
For the first time, the global awards presented by Whisky Magazine were announced virtually in a broadcast streamed on the title’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Comprising three parts, the Whisky Magazine Awards are designed to commend the very best people, places, and products in the world of whisky.
From bartenders to brand ambassadors, retailers to visitor attraction managers, the Icons of Whisky awards honour those who have worked tirelessly to produce and promote whisky.
While we delighted last February at Icons of Whisky for winning the Ireland Brand Ambassador award, our Global Brand Ambassador Sabine Sheehan won double this year taking away the much-coveted and first-time double female win for Global Irish Whiskey Brand Ambassador Award 2021.
” I was absolutely humbled to win this award, not just to be recognized amongst my peers in Ireland, but also globally in a whisky community that I’ve had the pleasure to meet and work with. I thank the judges and all my whiskey friends for their support and look forward to many more whiskey-filled conversations in the future!” said Sabine.
Among this year’s winners were also Bob Dalgarno, who was crowned Master Distiller/Blender of the Year, and Nc’nean Distillery, which was named Sustainable Distillery of the Year. The coveted title of Distiller of the Year went to Brown-Forman, owner of Jack Daniel’s.
Induction into the Whisky Magazine Hall of Fame is the highest honour bestowed by Whisky Magazine, reserved for those who have dedicated their lives to whisky, and congratulations to our fellow Irish man Brendan Buckley, international marketing director at Irish Distillers.
On the Icons of Whisky results, Christopher Coates, editor of Whisky Magazine, said:
“The global whisky industry has taken the challenges of the past year in stride and the strength of the entries we’ve received to our Icons awards for 2021 reflects this perfectly. It was no easy task for our panel to choose global winners from our regional shortlists, but I believe we’ve been successful in highlighting some truly iconic whisky heroes”.
